Hello, my name is Eric Totten.

My Story

Born and raised in Hawaii, Eric Totten brings a rare blend of discipline, technical skill, and approachability to the world of personal safety and self-defense. A veteran of both the U.S. Marine Corps and the Army Reserves, Eric served a total of ten years across two branches—honing his operational mindset and deepening his commitment to protecting others.

With over 18 years of martial arts experience, Eric is the architect behind Due Diligence Security’s self-defense training programs. His methods aren’t based on theory—they’re forged from real-world application, pressure-tested in military environments, and refined to meet the needs of everyday people. From workplace safety strategies to common-sense street defense, Eric designs each course with one goal: to make effective protection accessible to everyone.

Eric’s teaching philosophy is rooted in empowerment. He breaks down complex techniques into simple, repeatable actions that help clients of all backgrounds gain confidence without intimidation. Whether he's leading a training session for corporate teams or guiding individuals through one-on-one instruction, Eric delivers practical value with a calm and focused presence.

Outside of training, Eric is a family man and lifelong learner, always pushing the limits of his own expertise so that he can better serve others. His presence on the DDS team ensures that every self-defense course we offer is more than just instruction—it’s an opportunity for transformation.
